Design
Tips.
Always start with a clean vase or container. Make sure your container is leak proof and large enough for your flowers. Avoid metal containers if possible.
| For baskets or bowls you may want to use a piece of floral foam. Soak foam
in water and cut to fit container. Secure with tape across the top if
needed. | |
| Fill vase with water and add floral preservative. | |
| Always use a sharp knife to cut stems. | |
| Remove all foliage that will be below water level when placed in vase. | |
| Flowers will be easier to arrange if you place stems of foliage in
container first. | |
| If it is difficult to get your flowers to stand up straight, you may need
a smaller vase with a narrower neck. You could also try to make a grid
across the top of the vase with tape. Then place flowers in the grid.
| For proper proportion, the height of the tallest flowers should be one to
one and a half times the height of the vase.
| If you are using flowers from the garden, they should cut in the morning
while they hold the most water. Allow them to harden up in a pail of water
before arranging. | |
| Add water daily. | |
| Display your arrangement in a cool place away from drafts and harsh
sunlight. Do not place on TV, near a heating vent or air conditioner.
